Kroger- Wednesday, 09/09/09

This was a small trip. I didn't really have much to go for, but I like to go, so off we went. We managed to get a few deals. Now that I look at my receipt, I'm not sure how the math added up. I think the cashier was a little confused, but it made for some good deals!

1 gallon milk - $2.69
2 Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade - on sale for $1 each
1 Hefty One Zip Freezer Bags - on sale for $1, had coupon that made it free

I used a raincheck, which took $1.99 off my total.

That's from my receipt, so I'm not complaining how it added up!

No picture today, but we did go to Brookshire's last night. Last week when we went, we got a catalina for $3.00 off our next purchase. I wanted to get some free laundry detergent while we could, and we needed some milk. We ended up getting some cheese too to make quesadillas.

All laundry detergent- on sale for $3.99, used $1.00 off coupon (with $3.00 catalina - free!)
1 gallon milk- $2.89
1 block Kraft cheese- on sale for $1.50

Brookshires- Wednesday, September 2, 2009

Brookshires is normally expensive, but every so often, they do run a good sale on something we need. This week was one of those weeks. Tombstone pizzas were B1G1! We have been buying Tombstones for about a month now because of this rebate. We also found our beloved Patio Burritos that Walmart has stopped carrying, so we bought a couple.

4 Tombstone Pizzas
2 Patio Burritos

Total before savings: $24.47
Total after savings: $12.93
Total saved: $11.54 (47)%

BUT when you buy 4 Tombstone pizzas, you get a catalina for $3.00 off your next purchase at Brookshires. I now need to look at my coupons (they triple $0.60 and less) and figure out what to get for that $3.00.

Also, remember to take your own grocery bags! Brookshire's takes $0.05 off per bag; Kroger $.03. It adds up!

If you are thinking about starting to use coupons- don't bother buying Sunday's paper. There won't be any coupons in it. :)

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

We didn't really need much today, but today was the last day for Wonderbread to be $1 and I had a coupon that would make it free. I ran into the Kroger in Madison when school got out to discover 5 carts full of 'manager's specials.' I dug through and got Bisquick and 2 muffin mixes. I also found that even though their sale week starts tomorrow, the prices were already marked today. But I left some coupons at home! So I got the few things at the Madison Kroger, went home to grab coupons, then headed to the Ridgeland Kroger (Madison was also out of the $10/10 Hefty One-Zip Bags I wanted. I have a coupon that would make them free.) So we set out for the Ridgeland Kroger. Well they were also out of the Hefty Bags, but we only spent $0.18! (I did get a rain check for the Hefty bags though, the manager even wrote it so I can get ANY package of Hefty bags for $1!)

Transaction 1 (Madison):
Bisquick - normally $4.99, manager's special for $2.00. I didn't have a coupon.
2 Muffin Mixes - normally $1.29 each, manager's special $.50 each, had coupon that made both free
2 loaves of Wonderbread - $10/10, had coupons that made both free
2 bottles Hunts ketchup - $10/10 each
1 bottle Kroger Ranch dressing - $10/10, had coupon that made it $0.40

Total before savings: $18.12
Total spent: $ 4.82
Total savings: 74%

Transaction 2 (Ridgeland):
1 Cattleman's BBQ sauce - $10/10, had coupon that made it free
1 French's Yellow Mustard - $10/10, had coupon that made it free
1 French's Honey Mustard - $10/10, found coupon on Yellow Mustard that made it free
1 Dial Handsoap - $10/10, had coupon that made it free

Total before savings: $9.86
Total spent: $0.18 (all tax)
Total savings: 100% <------- this was very exciting!

Hunt's ketchup will actually be $0.88 Friday-Sunday at Brookshire's. I should have looked before I leaped!
